Tips For Sucess! Firefighter Throwdown & 1st Due Fit

40 Days left until The Firefighter Throwdown takes place for the first time ever in the Dirty South of Atlanta GA. I am very pumped and pleased to be apart of such a great group that has come to bring fitness at the highest level within the fire service and to be able to display this at the Fire Chiefs Conference. Not only is the Firefighter Throwdown helping fellow firefighters push themselves physically in the training, and preparation for the the throwdown it is also helping other members of fire departments all over the county get into better shape with the thought or goal of one day competing in The Firefighter Throwdown. I look forward to meeting many more fellow brothers and sisters that will be competing as well as in attendance at the conference and maybe be able to help a few with making a lifestyle change to be healthier and to obtain a better level of fitness within this great career.

Today tips for success I am going to talk about : IIFYM

Has anyone never seen this before ? Have no clue what I'm talking about?
IF IT FITS YOUR MACROS !

What are macros and what is the big push that is hitting the fitness scene about macros and you can eat whatever you want as long as it fits within your macros???

Ok just what we need another "new" mainstream diet , quick fix that no one really knows what to do or how to obtain it and starts this new big push with the IIFYM.. This has been being done for a long time already within the fitness world and its nothing new.

What are macros? Why would you want to figure out your macros? Are Macros really important?

Everyone has already heard what a macro is, and most know what they consist of... Macros are just a short word for Macronutrient. You know the three main points, Proteins, Carbs, Fats.... That's it!! Those are macros.

So by what this new push for IIFYM eat it comes from that if the certain food you want to consume fits within your personal macro set then eat it... This is a new push within the flexible dieting world and not being a robot eating the same meals day in day out and still maintaining the physique your after.

Why do macro really matter? It the ability to understand and calculate and adjust off of your body these macro numbers can and will help you determine what you body will look like over time (physique).

Just cause you know your macro breakdown to the point doesn't mean that you are going to walk around being a jacked ripped machine. It will also not guarantee you to be overall healthy as well. Again everyone is different. Every person reacts differently to different things. You have to find what works for you.

We now understand that our Macros are the Main 3 Proteins,Carbs,Fats...
Here are the calorie vaules for each macronutrient:
1g Protein = 4 calories
1g Carbohydrate = 4 calories
1g Fat = 9 calories

So with your personal goals and what you are trying to achieve you can figure out you macros off of the number of calories that you should be consuming on a daily basis in order to reach those goals. You can do a breakdown of 40%Protein, 30% Carbs, 30% Fat.
It all needs to be geared for your personal goals and activity levels. For high end athletes that are training a lot they will need more calories due to burning so many. The body will need the fuel in order to keep going and achieving the outcome that is set.
Keep in mind that the examples that I have given are just that examples. Everyone is different and what you do in your day to day life plays a major factor in finding your macros.
This was to touch on the IIFYM and explain that it is nothing new. If you have any questions or need help with getting you macros and lifestyle in check please let us know. We are here to help fellow firefighters to reduce the LODDS every year caused by cardiovascular issues. Living and promoting a healthy and fit lifestyle is the 1st step in reducing those numbers and chances of each firefighter.

Oh and see ya in the ATL... It about to be Throwdown Time!
#noexcuses

Thanks
